In many ways the story of Secret Santa is the story of a beer that simply refuses to die. Back in 2010 we acquired a load of 50 cl bottles from a brewery going out of business; bottles that had a different shape than our standard bottle at the time. We decided to use these bottles for a one-off Christmas beer. Back then a strong and rich Belgian style beer was the norm for Danish Christmas beers, and since an influential friend of the brewery had a soft spot for Quadruples that’s what it ended up being. From the same out-of-business brewery we got a load of bags with oak chips and dried pine needles, which we found was a fitting spice addition. To our surprise, Secret Santa sold out in no time. So we had to brew it again the next year.
